mh-e-announce
I tried verifying the subscription of mh-e-devel to mh-e-announce, but
their webapp rejected it, asking for a "real" address instead of
mh-e-devel.

Is this worth taking up with SourceForge, or should we just follow the
convention that if you're on mh-e-devel, you should also sign up for
mh-e-announce?

Thanks for letting me know.

I had gotten one of these for one of the lists, but I think it was
directly addressed to me. It seems the one sent to the list was in
error.

It isn't clear what would happen if you didn't respond with an I'm alive
message. I've cc'd all of the lists to make folks aware that SourceForge
was asking subscribers to acknowledge their mailing lists. If you didn't
receive this email, other than the one that was just sent to the list,
please be aware of this. I don't think there is any action to take other
than to respond to these emails if you do receive them.

I wanted to check whether the mh-e-announce mailing list contains mh-e-users
and mh-e-devel, although I didn't think so. But I got this:

Member emails are now private

As a result of the latest electronic messaging and privacy requirements
around the world, SourceForge has implemented a number of changes that
affect email privacy. One part of this is that it is no longer possible
for project admins to view the member emails of their mailing lists. If
you need to make changes to a mailing list's members, please let our
support staff know about it.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support,

The SourceForge team

I opened the following ticket to get an answer to this simple question,
and to let them know what I thought about it:

https://sourceforge.net/p/forge/site-support/15120/

I won't mind if you want to share your thoughts on removing membership
management from the SourceForge mailings lists on this ticket. I'd also
be interested to hear from people who support this move in spite of the
usability issues.
